First ever celebration of Independence and National Day of Bangladesh in Denmark

The Independence and National Day of Bangladesh was celebrated in Denmark for the first time with great enthusiasm and due fervour.   The newly opened Bangladesh Embassy in Copenhagen hosted a gala reception on 01 April at the prestigious historic Hall ‘Bygningskulturens Hus’. More than 200 dignitaries attended the reception which included high government officials, more than 40 Ambassadors and Chargés d'affaires, academicians, media personalities and a cross-section of expatriate Bangladesh community. The programme started with playing of national anthems of Bangladesh and Denmark. The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Denmark Mr. Muhammad A. He recalled with deep respect three million martyrs and two hundred thousand women who sacrificed their honour that resulted in a secular, progressive and democratic Bangladesh. He highlighted the objectives of opening a new Mission in Copenhagen and urged the Danish business houses to increase the market share of Bangladeshi RMGs, ocean going ships, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, IT products and services in Denmark. He called upon Danish entrepreneurs to invest more in the renewable energy sector and green growth in Bangladesh. Ambassador Muhith said that Bangladesh now has the capacity to offer a win-win situation for trade with and investment in Bangladesh in terms of opportunities and mutual benefits. He invited the Danish companies to take advantage of regional connectivity that Bangladesh has become a hub for. He also highlighted Bangladesh Government’s policy towards safe migration and its unwavering commitment towards combating terrorism.
